Alama Kante Nov 13, 2013

Born Guinean and ivorian by adoption, Alama KANTE of her real name, started performing at the early age of eight in the musical group called “PANAFRICAIN”. Her multi disciplinary skills took her to be initiated in singing, dancing and drama, as well as music. In 1992, she joined the glamourous ballet “l’Ensemble Koteba”. Then in 1996, she sang with the musical group “Go de Koteba”. She came out with two albums: “Da Gna” produced by the great US Sound engineer and director, Bruce SWEEDEN (George BENSON, Micheal JACKSON,…), and the album“Faso Den”, four years later.
2004 is the year of great achievement, with the production of an eleven titled album “JE VOUS INVITE”, started in 2001, with the beginning of a solo career. In this album, Alama fascinates her fans in a blend of african rythms, on a background of soul, coupe décalé and zouk, crossing harmoniously both French and African langage. Her musical tours took her round the five continents, where she took part in prestigious festivals like Couleur Café, Africa, Oyé, … This album is an elaborate mixture of modern and tenderness, with respect of african values and traditions. Alama tells us here mostly about day-to-day life. With her new eight titled album “SAMBOU”, arranged by Guy Bilong and Alain Bonnin (known as the cameroonian hit “ONGUELE” producers), Alama is at a turning point of her career, signing more personal lyrics; her music blends traditional instruments such as ngoni, balafon, cora with piano, organ and synthesizer modern rythms. The title “Génération Sabbar” puts together the quality of a great team of musicians with Alama’s tribute to the most famous african artists, such as the one and only saxophonist, Manu Dibango.
