Andrey Baturkin was born in Moscow in 1966, in the family of musicians. After graduating from the music school as a pianist, he studied as a singer with professor Artur Eizen at the Russia's Music Academia (Moscow).
In 1993 he joined the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theater as well as “Helicon-Opera” company.
Mr. Baturkin appeared as Eletsky (“Queen of Spades”) at the Wexford Opera Festival (Ireland) in 1995, in Beirut in 1996, and in London (“ Queen Elisabeth Hall ” , 1997 ). In 1997 he appeared as Shonard in Seoul. In 1999 he performed Onegin in Saltzburg (Austria) and in Cannes (France). In 2000 and 2005 he took part in the production of “ War and Peace” by Prokofiev in Opera Bastille in Paris and appeared as Marcello in “La Boheme” by Puccini in Linz (Austria) and as Onegin in Klagenfurt (Austria).In the seasons 2001-2004 he performed in Linz: Macbeth (Verdi), Alfio (“Cavaleria Rusticana” Mascagni), Tonio (“Pagliacci” Leoncavallo), Escamilio (“Carmen” Bizet).In the season 2006 he performed Schelkalov in “Boris Godunov” in Opera Monte Carlo.In 2007 he took part in performances of “Faery Angel” in Brussel.
In 1996 Andrey Baturkin was a finalist of the International Opera Competition in Shizuoka (Japan), and in 1997 he become a winner of the Irina Arkhipova's TV-competition and the International Rachmaninov competition (3-d Prize, Moscow). In 1998 he become a winner of the International Rimsky-Korsakov competition (3-d Prize, Saint-Petersburg, Russia), and a finalist of the International Tchaikovsky competition (Moscow) and a winner of the Special Prizes of International Belvedere Competition (Vienna, Austria).
In 1997 Mr. Baturkin was a member of Renata Scotto's master-class .
His repertoire includes: Onegin (“Eugene Onegin” Tchaikovsky), Eletsky and Tomsky (“Queen of Spades” ), Germont (“Traviata”) , Amonasro (“Aida”) , Escamilio (“Carmen”) , Figaro (“ IL barbiere di Seviglia”) , Marcello and Shonard (“La Boheme” ), Schelkalov (“ Boris Godunov”) , Stenio (“Maddalena” Prokofiev), Malatesta (Donizetti's “Don Pasquale”), Belcore(“Elixir d'Amore“ Donizetti), Macbeth, Tonio (Pagliacci), Alfio (Cavaleria Rusticana), Valentin (Faust), Conte diLuna (Il Trovatore).
In concerts Andrey Baturkin takes part in different programs in Russia and in Europe: Stravinskiy in Moskow with Rojdestvenskiy and Polianskiy and in Amsterdam, Shostakovich in Brussel with Kasushi Ono, Beethoven in Japan, Taneev with Pletnev in Portugal, Tchaikovsky in France and Italy, and other.
In 1999 Mr. Baturkin took part in “Portrait of Manon” performances in Bolshoi Theater with Liuba Kazarnovskaya and Franco Bonisolli. In 2002 he took part in concert with Jose Cura in Moscow. In 2003 he performed in Bolshoi Ping in “Turandot” (with Francesca Zambello).
