Born in 1987, Andrey Gugnin has been involved in music since age of seven. He has finished The Child Music School of The Academic Music College at The Moscow P.I.Tchaikovsky Conservatory and Moscow State College named after F.Chopin. At this period his teachers were: Natalia Smirnova, Olga Metchetina, prof. Valery Kastelsky, prof. Lev Naumov. He has finished Moscow P.I.Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 2010, where he studied with prof. Vera Gornostaeva.
Andrey has won prizes in the television competition ''The Young Moscow Musicians'' (1997), the Moscow international festival of young piano-players (1998).He was the winner of the first ''The New Names'', an all-Russian competition of young musicians (1999), the grand prix winner of the First International competition of pianists in Saratov (2000), has taken 2nd prize in the International Piano Competition Republic of San Marino (Piano duo section, 2008), first prize in International piano competition «Cittâ di Cantù», Italy (2009), 2nd prize and 2 special prizes in The 4th International Svetislav Stancic Piano Competition in Zagreb, Croatia (2011), 2nd prize in Beethoven International Piano competition in Vienna, Austria (2013).
He was nominated for German Piano Award 2012 He has held a scholarship from the Guzik Foundation since 2003. In February 2007 was released his CD with recording of the both Shostakovich concertos. Conductor – Constantine Orbelian, Moscow Chamber Orchestra. Label: «Delos» [3366] He participated in many international festivals such as Ohrid Summer festival (Macedonia), Zagreb Summer Evenings, Zagreb Music Bienalle (Croatia), Art November, Musical Olympus (Russia), Societa Dei Concerti Di Brescia Dal 1868 (Italy), Aberdeen Youth Festival (Scotland), Bermuda Festival for Performing Arts (Bermuda) and others. He has been broadcasted over the radio and TV of Russia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Croatia, Germany and Austria. He had performed in such significant halls as the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory and Tchaikovsky hall (Moscow, Russia), Brahms hall and Golden hall of Musikverein (Vienna, Austria), Auditorium du Louvre (Paris, France), Alte Oper (Frankfurt, Germany), Thailand Cultural Center (Bangkok, Thailand), Teatro Verdi (Trieste, Italy), Zagreb National Theatre, Lisinski Hall (Zagreb, Croatia) and others. He has performed with Svetlanov State Orchestra, The Moscow State Symphonic Orchestra, Macedonian Philharmonic, Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, with The Dutch National Orchestra, with Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, The Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra and others. He He gave concerts in more than 20 countries. Since year 2007 Andrey plays with Vadym Kholodenko in piano duo called «iDuo». As a piano duo they have been giving concerts throughout Russia, Italy, Spain and Croatia. In September 2010 was released their debut CD with 4 hands program of Debussy, Ravel & Rachmaninoff by «Delos» DE 3405. Recently they were invited to play the premier of the new staging of Stravinsky ballet "Rite of spring" at the Zagreb National Theatre in April 2013 with following additional performances in season 2014 in Zagreb and Trieste.
