Ania Filochowska is 19 years old. She was born on December 8, 1993, in Warsaw, Poland. She began to play the violin at the age of six in the Music School in Warsaw, and continued in Poznan until June 2005, when she was accepted to study under Maestro Itzhak Perlman at The Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division. In September 2005, she moved to New York and began her studies at Juilliard. Prior to moving to the US, at the age of eleven, she was already a laureate of over 30 national and international children's violin competitions in Poland and Europe.

Ania performed numerous times as a soloist in Warsaw, including the National Philharmonics, the Chopin’s Music Academy, Lutoslawski’s Studio of Polish Radio, Porczynski’s Gallery, the Royal Lazienki Park Concert Hall, the Royal Castle, the National Library, and others. She also appeared in many prestigious halls in Lancut, Stawisko, Cracow, Gdansk, and Poznan. In Europe, she played in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Holland, and Italy. Since June 2005, she gave performances in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Washington, DC in USA. In December 2006, she played a charitable concert in the National Art Gallery in Ottawa, Canada to raise money for Afghan children. Ania made her orchestra debut at the age of ten, performing Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in D minor and Sarasate’s “Navarra” for two violins in duo with Bartek Niziol and the Rybnik Symphony Orchestra in Poland. She also performed with the Baltic Symphony Orchestra and the Sinfonietta Cracovia. She has received instruction from, in addition to Maestro Perlman, renowned violin educators such as Jadwiga Kaliszewska, Catherine Cho, Daniel Stabrawa, Krzysztof Wegrzyn, Nam-Yun Kim, Wanda Wilkomirska, Igor Oistrach, Stefan Milenkovich, Bartek Niziol, and Patty Kopec. In January 2005, Ania studied with Nava Milo in the Israeli Conservatory of Music in Tel Aviv.
Ania used to play the harp and had a cycle of compositions by Janina Garscia created especially for her during this time. Ania also participated in the 2005 Starling - DeLay Symposium and the Perlman Music Program in summers 2005 and 2006. Ania has received numerous presidential awards and scholarships in support of her talent including from the First Lady and President Kwasniewskis of Poland, the Polish Minister of Culture - “Mloda Polska” scholarship, and “Crescendum Est – Polonia” scholarship. Currently, Ania is a scholar of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation and Rachel Elizabeth Foundation. Ania is also greatly supported by the Barbara Piasecka Johnson Foundation.
