If Khachatourian is a big name in music, Ashot is becoming a big name in piano.

Driven by an overwhelming passion for music, Ashot Khachatourian is now making a name worthy of one of the greatest Armenian composers.

Ashot started playing the piano at the age of five with Valentina..Melikyan and Elena Galustova at the Charles Aznavour Music School in his home country. He then continued his studies with Gerard Wyss in Basel, Switzerland and Eliso Virssaladze in Fiesole Italy.


He is a soloist at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo, where he refines his art with the great pianist Maria João Pires. Ashot has particularly excelled in his interpretations of Rachmaninov's 2nd and 3rd concertos. He won the 1st Prize of the Rachmaninov Piano Competition in 2006 and the 1st Prize of the Martha Argerich Piano Competition in 2007. He is also a Prize winner of the Top of the World Piano Competition in 2011 and Concours d’Epinal in 2013.

The young virtuoso has been invited to perform with many important orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra the Royal Philharmonic, the Norway Radio Orchestra, the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the Wallonie Royal Chamber Orchestra, The Olympique Orchestra, and to collaborate with masters such as Jan Caeyers, Rodolfo Fisher, Augustin Dumay, Daniele Gatti, Thomas Søndergård, Christopher Warren-Green and others.

Ashot has performed in renowned concert halls such as the Salle Pleyel, Salle
Cortot, Salle Molière, le Louvre, Salle Gaveau, the Berlin Konzerthaus, Cadogan Hall, Flagey, Palais de Bozar, Palau de Valencia, and other halls of the world.

As a chamber musician, Ashot Khachatourian collaborate with outstanding artists such as Nicolas Altstaedt, Misha Maisky, Maxim Vengerov, Ivan Monighetti, Liana Issakadze, Zakhar Bron, Augustin Dumay, Gary Hoffman, Gerard Caussé and others.

Today, Ashot Khachatourian shares his time between concerts and recordings.
His first CD dedicated to Haydn and Beethoven was released in December 2013. He also gives concerts in duo with Maria João Pires proving his exceptional talent and revealing a musical soul at its purest.
