Avigail Arad

The Israeli cellist Avigail Arad was born in Jerusalem in 1982. At the age of 16, she performed her debut solo concert with the Israeli Chamber Orchestra. Numerous musical achievements include the prestigious America- Israel Cultural Foundation award for solo playing between 1996 and 2004, and for chamber music between 1998 and 2000. She also won the Concerto Competition in Indiana University in Bloomington, where she studied with the great cellist and pedagogue Janos Starker. While at IU, Ms. Arad performed numerous chamber music concerts with such esteemed musicians as Miriam Fried, Paul Biss and Ik-Hwan Bae among others. Ms. Arad took part in the University's New Music Ensemble and toured with them throughout the west coast.
