Violinist Ben E. Detrick began his musical studies in York, Pennsylvania. He is sought after as a chamber musician and private teacher in the USA and Austria.
He has soloed with the Endless Mountain Symphony Orchestra (PA), the F.A.M.E. Orchestra (Baltimore, MD), and twice with the York Symphony Orchestra. He traveled to Denmark to compete in The Carl Nielsen Violin Competition, as well as the International Brahms and Bled (Slovenia) competitions.
As a chamber and orchestra musician, Ben has performed for thousands of public and private events throughout China, Austria, Chicago, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Arizona. A very special occasion included a broadcasted quartet performance in Boston, MA on the National Public Radio show "From the Top," featuring America's most promising young musicians.
For over 10 years, Ben has enjoyed teaching a wide diversity of children and adults. Many have gone on to represent their schools and communities in musical and other leadership positions.
Ben graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He is the recipient of Vanderbilt’s Heard Prize for "excellence in violin performance," and the Richard C. Cooper Award for "demonstrating long term commitments to improving the musical experience" at Vanderbilt University.
His principal teachers include Barbara Gorzynska, Dr. Carolyn Huebl, Jonathan Carney, and Colette Wichert.
