Born August 10, 1978, in Herzliya Israel, Carmi Shimron was destined to sing. Her vibrant Yemenite roots coupled with the influences of jazz, r&b, soul and folk music, helped mold her into a multi-talented singer- songwriter, both on the stage and in the studio.
In 2001, Carmi was chosen as the lead singer of ’Hahmsah’, an all-girl-singing group whose debut “LaMoot Alay”quickly rose to number 1 on the Israeli charts.
In 2005 Carmi began to explore the club scene, Paving her way into the international market, she teamed up with DJ Nadav Shpilman and recorded a new version of Bonnie Tyler’s smash hit “Holding Out for a Hero”.. This track has received massive radio air time both in Israel and abroad.
At the end of 2005, Carmi was chosen to be the lead female vocalist of the Israeli version of the hit TV show “Dancing with the Stars”. This summer Carmi will be finishing her seventh season on DWS, earning further recognition as a singer.
In 2007 Carmi started working with Tomer Biran, one of Israel’s most successful producers, creating soundtracks for numerous TV commercials and international clients such as: “SIXT”, “Samsung”, “Nescafe”, “Mango”, “Seat”, “Orange”, etc…
In 2008 Carmi collaborated with musician Danny Bushkanitz, in order to produce a Tribute show for her all time idol, Aretha Franklin. They received rave reviews and Carmi toured the country with it performing to audiences all over Israel.
It took a decade for Carmi to reveal the songwriter within her. Her life’s experience has molded and cast a singer with content and profundity who yearned to find her own authentic voice. Referring to herself as a “late bloomer” Carmi wanted to wait until she was ready.The time was right in January 2011 when she met composer/producer Gal Padeh, who had just returned from NY working alongside legendary producer Gordon Williams.
Carmi & Gal set out on a hectic and magical journey which in the end, led to the birth of Carmi’s debut album and the realization that her journey has just begun.
