Cristina Nóbrega was born in Lisbon. She has pursued her singing talent from an early age, in what has been a solitary path that has taken her through a number of musical genres. As a child, she attended the Classical Dance National Conservatory, and was a student at the Musical Amateurs Academy, both in Portugal.
At the beginning of 2008, the great discovery and passion of her youth - Fado - resurged with renewed strength and led Cristina to the acknowledgment that she must sing. It is within this genre that she finds the most profound expression and the magic of singing in Portuguese. It all happened in less than a year, with the recording and presentation of a demo to a music label, which then edited her first work, “Palavras do Meu Fado” (Sep./2008), featuring classical fado themes written by renowned poets. Her premiere happened in Madrid on the 14th of September 2008, at 'Noite Branca', at the invitation of "Círculo de Bellas Artes". In May 2009, she was awarded the prestigious "Artist Revelation Award 2009" by the Amália Rodrigues Foundation.
In November 2011, in 2011 won the award of 'Portuguese Society of Authors' as an interpreter of fado.
Her second record contains exclusively the unpublished works of some of the great Portuguese poets.
Throughout her as yet short career, Cristina has performed in top reference venues, both in Portugal and abroad, and she was the first Portuguese fado singing in Beijing.
The musicians that accompany her in performances are great names within the Fado culture, who have also played with Amália Rodrigues, Fado Diva, during her career.
Cristina Nobrega will release their third Fado album in March 2014, with the first performance in Italy.
