About Desislava Dobreva

Desislava DOBREVA, born in Stara Zagora (Bulgaria), began at the age of six to play the piano and four years later the flute at the National Music School in Stara Zagora. Only one year after having started playing the flute, she won a first prize at the National Music Competition for Wind Players in Bulgaria to be followed by four other 1. prizes at Bulgarian music competitions. After her secondary graduation in 2005, she became a student at the University of Music and performing Arts Vienna in the class of Prof. Barbara Gisler. In the winter semester 2010/2011 she took part on the ERASMUS-exchange programme and studied at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris in the class of Prof. Vincent Lucas (Principal flute of Orchestre de Paris) and in the piccolo class of Nathalie Rozat (Principal piccolo of Orchestre national d'Île-de-France). In June 2012 she finished her Master diploma and graduated with honour. In 2012-2014 she continued her flute studies with Prof. Karl-Heinz Schütz (Principal flute of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra) at the Konservatorium Wien.
She is a prize winner of Osaka Music Competition (2008), Schubert International Competition, Russe (2011) and Fidelio Competition, Vienna (2013).
Desislava Dobreva has collected her orchestral experience with the Wiener Philharmoniker, Wiener Symphoniker, Wiener Volksoper, Klagenfurter Symphoniker, Stadttheater Baden, European Union Youth Orchestra, Webern Symphonie Orchester u.a. conducted by Semjon Bytschkow, Phllilippe Jordan, Franz-Welser Möst, Thomas Dausgaard, Ingo Metzmacher, Christoph Eschenbach ,Vladimir Ashkenazy a.o. She is a member of the Yehudi Menuhin "Live Music Now" foundation, Vienna. She took part at numerous international masterclasses with Felix Renggli, Philippe Bernold, Benoit Fromanger, Piere-Yves Artaud, Paul Maisen a.o. A major experience of her is the participation as an academist of the Angelika Prokopp Foundation of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in 2013-2015.

Currently she is teaching at the J.G.Albrechtsberger Stadt Musikschule in Klosterneuburg.
