About Emma Rotomeza - Viola

Emma Rotomeza is a promising romanian violist, born in 1985 in Ramnicu Valcea. She is the Grand Prix winner of the “George Georgescu” Competition in 2004 and has won over fifteen 1st Prizes at competitions such as: the “Orpheus Competition” in 1998, the “Johann Sebastian Bach Competition for violin and viola” in 2003 and 2004, the “Garabet Avachian Competition” in 2003, the “National Romanian Olympics of Music” in 2000 with an Excellency Diploma in 2004, the “Young Talents Competition” in 2002 and 2003, an Excellency Diploma from the Rotary Club for her musical activity in 2004 and more recent, the “Road to Celebrity Competition” in 2011.

She holds her Graduation and Diploma in Music in 2004 at the class of Mariana Mihailescu (alto) in Ramnicu Valcea, both Bachelor and Master degrees in Music Performance, and a Pedagogy Diploma in 2010 from the National Music University of Bucharest at the classes of Valeriu Pitulac (alto), Iulia Timiras (alto), Serban-Dimitrie Soreanu (chamber music) and Dumitru Goia (orchestra) and an Erasmus Scholarship in 2009 at the “Eduardo Martinez Torner” Conservatory in Spain with Luis Magin (alto).

She is currently performing her Advanced Studies in Music at the International Menuhin Music Academy in Switzerland since May 2011. She has studied with Liviu Prunaru (Netherlands), Sophia Reuter (Germany), Johannes Eskaer (Denmark), Ettore Causa (SUA) and Pablo de Naveran (Spain) until May 2012 and now is continuing under the guidance of Maxim Vengerov, Oleg Kaskiv (Switzerland), Ivan Vukcevic (Switzerland) and Niall Brown (Luxembourg).

She is part of the Menuhin Soloists and performs on a regular basis in Switzerland and abroad. This summer she has recorded an audio CD at the Dinemec Studios of Maxim Vengerov and the Menuhin Soloists and a live concert DVD of Maxim Vengerov with IMMA Soloists in the Paleo Festival in Nyon, July 2012. She has performed in halls such as KKL Luzern, Palais Princier in Monaco, Estoril Festival in Portugal, Darmstadt Orangerie - Germany, the Romanian Atheneum in Bucharest, Okayama Miki Memorial Hall, Matsuyama Hall, Hiroshima Phoenix Hall - Japan.

In October 2009 she founded the “Resonance Quartet” that has enjoyed great success in Romania. They performed concerts in the George Enescu Museum in Bucharest, the Operetta House in Bucharest, the Pitesti Philharmonic, the Jewish Community Centre, The Romanian National Opera. In November 2009 they made a project with students from the National University of Acting Theatre and Cinematography performing together the play “Time”, that was very well received by the critics.
In July 2010 the quartet is invited to concert-tour of the Romanian Palaces by the Romanian National Radio Institution. They sustain concerts in the “Peles Castle” in Sinaia, the “Miclauseni Castle”, the “Union Museum” in Iasi, the “Mogosoaia Palace” and in “George Enescu’s Memorial House” from Tescani. In 2011, Resonance Quartet appears on National Television (TVR1) for the famous “100% Guaranteed” television show that has been visualized also abroad through TVR International and becomes one of the favorite groups for this show. In 2011 the quartet participates in the “Road to Celebrity” Competition in Mogosoaia and wins the Chamber music section.

Her orchestral experience includes: the Romania National Radio Symphonic Orchestra - substitute (2008 – 2009), the Romania Radio Chamber Orchestra - substitute (2010-2011), the Romanian Youth Orchestra – member (2009-2011), the Romanian Royal Camerata – founding member (2009-2011)
