Frederic Sánchez was born in Barcelona in 1987. He began his musical studies at the age of four, teached by his father, an amateur flutist himself.He studied in the Conservatory of Badalona with Jaume Cortadellas. In 2005 he finishes his studies in Badalona obtaining the Honour Prize of the Conservatory. Also in 2005 he is accepted in the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (High School of Music of Catalonia, ESMuC) where he studies Bachelor until 2009 with Salvador Martínez (Soloist of the Orchestra of Valencia) and Vicens Prats (Soloist of the Orchestra of Paris).In 2009 he starts studying a Master in Performance in the Hochschule für Musik der Stadt Basel (Switzerland) with Felix Renggli. He finishes this studies of Master in 2011 obtaining the highest qualifications and being accepted to study a Master as soloist (Solistdiplom) in the same Hochschule until 2013. He studies with Felix Renggli and recieves masterclasses of the bassoonist Sergio Azzolini.He has been granted a scholarship for the courses 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 offered by the JONDE/BBVA Foundation. As a soloist, he has played with the Chamber Orchestra of the Conservatory of Badalona, the Kammerorchester Basel and he has been invited to play in the cycle "Matinée des Jeunes Etoiles" of the Menuhin Festival, Gstaad (Switzerland), with the pianist Andreu Gallén. He will play the Concerto for Flute and Orchestra by C. Reinecke with the Sinfonieorchester Basel (June, 2013).Frederic Sánchez has played with orchestras and ensembles like the Youth National Orchestra of Catalonia, the Youth National Orchestra of Spain, the Youth National Orchestra of the Netherlands, the Youth Iberoamerican Orchestra, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Fesival Orchestra (Germany), selected (2012) in the Verbier Festival Orchestra (Switzerland), the Camerata Bern (Switzerland), the Verum Symphony Orchestra (Spain), the Chamber Academy Basel (Switzerland), the JONC Philarmonia (Spain), the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (Netherlands), the Sinfonieorchester Basel (Switzerland) as academist during the season 2010-2011, the Murtra Ensemble (Spain) and the woodwind quintet Azahar Ensemble (formed in the Youth National Orchestra of Spain). He is invited in 2012 to work as coach with the Youth National Orchestra of Catalonia (JONC Alevins), an orchestra for musicians under 18 years old. He is deeply touched by this experience.He has worked with conductors like Josep Pons, Manel Valdivieso, Miguel Romea, Alfons Reverté, Karl Anton Richenbacher, Robert Porter, Salvador Mas, Pablo González, Christian Vasquez, Lutz Köhler, Gabriel Feltz, Christopher Hogwood, Hans Leenders, Heinz Holliger, Charles Dutoit, Jaap van Zweden, Neeme Järvi, Manfred Honeck, Lorin Maazel or Gustavo Dudamel.Frederic Sánchez has played with soloists like Maxim Vengerov, Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, Magdalena Kozena, Joshua Bell, Leonidas Kavakos, Mischa Maisky, Martha Argerich or Waltraud Meier.With Azahar Ensemble, he has been awarded in the Swiss Chamber Music Competition 2010. He has offered concerts in Spain, France, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria and the Dominican Republic. The quintet has played in the Palau de la Música Catalana (October 2012), and won the 2nd Prize in the "Primer Palau" Competition.He has been invited to play with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra as Principal Flute in a program in which the orchestra goes on tour the USA and Europe (March 2013). (Halls like Concertgebouw in Amsterdam or Konzerthaus in Vienna, among others).Frederic Sánchez has been recently offered a "Trial" for the position of Principal Flute in the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
