George King

George's career to date includes performances and collaborations with a huge variety of artists. His career as a classical pianist has led him to perform at venues all over the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Wigmore Hall and the Purcell Room.

He is also an improviser of rare quality. His stylistic range covers many musical paths, whether it is a solo free improvisation piano recital, or as a member of Jah Wobble's 'Modern Jazz Ensemble'. George enjoys the challenge of treading new water and softening the boundaries between musical genres. This versatility has led to performances at festivals including Glastonbury, Womad and Jazz festivals all over the world.

George's work as a Composer has earned him international awards from Ibla (Italy), Gunther Bialas Prize (Germany) and the Barto Prize (USA) and recent commissions included a major new work for Jazz singer and string ensemble from the Manchester Jazz Festival and Manchester Camerata (UK).

Recent recordings include the Piano works of Edwin Roxburgh (NMC records), '7' with Jah Wobble (30 Hertz records), Watching the Well with music by Jon Thorne (Naim records), a solo free improvised recital called 'Into the Light' (ASC records) and most recently his CD JUBILEES (Odradek Records).
