Ignacio Barcia was born in Uruguay and began his guitar studies at the age of 13 with Robert Ravera and later with Eduardo Isaac and Eduardo Fernandez. He has performed in master class for renowned masters such as Oscar Ghiglia, Eduardo Fernandez, Benjamin Verdery, Jakob Lindberg and Marcin Dylla among others.

Mr. Barcia holds a Bachelor's Degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the Uruguayan National Conservatory, an Artist Certificate in Performance from the College of Charleston, SC and a Master's Degree in Music Performance from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
He has performed in Europe, the United States, Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay and was featured in the media in the United States, Netherland, Spain, Argentina and Uruguay. His live recording of Leo Brouwer's "3 Danzas Concertantes" with pianist Matthew Parker was chosen and broadcasted on NPR's "Carolina Concerts"

In 2010 Ignacio co-founded the Milwaukee Guitar Duo with Cuban Virtuoso Edel Muñoz followed by the release of their debut album "All times guitar duets" and several performances in Florida, South Carolina, Illinois and Wisconsin.
As a teacher Mr. Barcia has taught at the National Public High School in Uruguay and was a faculty member with the Charleston Academy of Music, Ashley Hall, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Northwestern University.

Ignacio is currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Northwestern University in Chicago, Ilinois.
