The Italian Cultural Institute in Washington, DC promotes, organizes, and sponsors a variety of events with the goal of strengthening the cultural exchange between the United States and Italy. All initiatives are conceived to offer the American public a deeper and wider knowledge of contemporary Italian culture.

Where and How
With a few exceptions, all events taking place at the Istituto are free and open to the public. Events taking place at other venues, on the other hand, may require admission fees. Members of the Istituto are often entitled to discount tickets (see our Membership section for details). Detailed information on tickets and admission will be posted with the announcement for the specific events.

Reservations
For select events it is possible to place a reservation by clicking the Reserve button that appears in the event’s page. After successfully completing the procedure, users will receive an automatic email reply with a link to confirm the reservation within 4 days.

Events changes
Programs are subject to changes due to unforeseen circumstances. Notices will be posted on this website and sent by email to the Newsletter subscribers as soon as possible.

Detailed information on current events is shown in individual pages for each event. A list of Istituto events for a particular category is obtainable by clicking the link for that category. The section Other events includes announcements of events related to Italian culture that are organized by other Institutions in our area of jurisdiction without the participation of the Istituto. About Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Washington

Founded in 1980, the Italian Cultural Institute in Washington, DC is an official branch of the Italian government, dedicated to the promotion of Italian language and culture in the United States through the organization of cultural events.

Under the guidance of its trustees at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its advisory board, and its staff, the Italian Institute of Culture in Washington, DC conforms to this commitment by fostering the cultural exchange between Italy and the USA in a variety of areas from the arts to the humanities to science.

Central to the Istituto's mission is a constant effort to encourage the understanding and enjoyment of Italian culture by the diverse audiences present in the Washington Metropolitan Area. The development of academic exchanges, the organization and support of visual arts exhibitions, the aid to the translation and publication of Italian books, the promotion of Italian studies, and the cooperation with local institution in the organization of various events that aim at a better understanding and appreciation of Italian arts are but a few examples of the Istituto's initiatives.
