Jazzappella Jun 20, 2013

JAZZAPPELLA is a Romanian a cappella jazz sextet formed in Bucharest in late 2010.
The group has a contemporary jazz repertoire consisting mainly of jazz standards and original compositions, but it also looks into various other directions, such as pop hits, chansonnette or cartoons soundtracks.
Since its formation, JZP has performed throughout Romania, in jazz festivals, theatres, and clubs and has been enthusiastically acclaimed as THE young, ground breaking a cappella jazz group of Romania.
JZP delight audiences with their exciting and distinctive sound, introducing the world of vocal music and of vocal jazz improvisation to an emerging local market.
The particular qualities of the group rely in their stamina, freshness and improvisational fantasy.
Bogdan Tudor, the group’s bass, with a vocal range down to contra A, assumes the demanding role of keeping the music in balance, but is also prompted by his colleagues to take a solo now and then.
Elena Moroşanu, second soprano, is actually a disguised alto, and loves vocal improvisation.
Mircea Mutulescu, baritone, the youngest of the group, and Ana-Cristina Leonte, alto, can equally enrich a live performance with their improvisation skills.
Raluca Stoica is JZP’s high soprano and brings accuracy and brilliance to the group’s sound.
Zoltán András, tenor, takes as much pleasure in weaving into the group’s harmonies, as he does in spontaneous improvisations. He writes most of the original stuff that the group sings and is responsible for many of the vocal arrangements that make up JZP’s repertoire.
