Lev Loftus

Lev Loftus was born in Toronto in 1986 and now lives in Israel. After serving in the Israel Defense Forces as an Outstanding Musician, he graduated from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance under Alon Bor, continuing with Prof. Peter Sadlo at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. His awards include first prizes in Jerusalem Academy solo and duo competitions, a Pendim International Percussion Competition prize, and a scholarship from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. He frequently performs with Israel’s major orchestras, and plays contemporary music with ensembles including Ensemble Meitar and the Israel Contemporary Players. He has appeared as a soloist with the Holon Stage Orchestra, the Beersheba Sinfonietta and the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra, and in festivals including Kfar Blum, Abu Gosh, the International Percussion Festival in Novi-Sad Serbia and Hallein Percussion, Austria. He is currently co-Principal Percussion with the Israel Symphony Orchestra, Rishon LeZion.
