About Maddalena Del Gobbo

Classical

Maddalena Del Gobbo was born in Italy and started studying music at a very early age. At the age of four, she began to learning the piano and gradually added the cello and singing to her musical repertoire. Years later, at the age of 13, her unusual talent brought her to Vienna, where she studied the cello at the Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität.
She first came in contact with the viola da gamba when she entered a record shop on the heart of Vienna and was mesmerized by an enchanting sound she would never forget.
She still finished her studies as a cellist, received a MA and performed in many concert halls as a soloist and chamber musician. All this time, she never forgot the viol and secretly honed her skills until, one day, she decided to make the viol her focal point and to dedicate her life to baroque music.
She appeared as a soloist at the Wiener Musikverein, at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik, at the festival Barocktage Melk and appeared on broadcasts for BR. 2017 she was a jury member of the international Johann Heinrich Schmelzer competition.
In 2014 "Viola D´Emozione", her debut album at Archiv Produktion (Deutsche Grammophon) was released.
2016 she released her second Album "Henriette - The Princess of the Viol" for Deutsche Grammophon.
She is the founder of the Ensemble "Ad Cor", specialized on ensemble music for and with the viola da gamba.
Maddalena Del Gobbo plays on a viol by Johann Seelos 1691 from the Orpheon Foundation.
