Curriculum Vitae

Martin Hafizi was born in 23.09.1993 in the city Sofia. He started learning classical percussion from six years old. In 2000 he became a student in Maria Palieva’s class in National Music School “L. Pipkov” Sofia. He has been taking part in many competitions and won following Prizes:


- Second national competition for percussion instruments” Pendim 2001” – 1st prize

- Third international competition for percussion instruments “Pendim 2003” – 1st prize

- International festival “Culture of the wine” 2003 Sofia – 1st prize

- Twelve national competition for soloists and singers “Svetoslav Obretenov” 2004 – Provadia – 2nd prize

- First international competition “Young virtuosos 2004” – Sofia – 1st prize

- First national music competition “You and me” – Grand prize

- Fourth international competition for percussion instruments “Pendim 2005” – Plovdiv – Special prize for best performance of Dobri Paliev’s piece

- Fourth international competition for percussion instruments “Pendim 2005” – Plovdiv – 2nd prize

- Thirteenth international competition “Music and Earth” 2005 for soloists and composers – 2nd prize

- First international competition for young performers in Ribaroha del Turia – Valencia – Spain – 1st prize

- Third international competition “Young virtuosos 2006” – Sofia – 1st prize

- Fifth international competition “Young virtuosos” 2009 – Sofia – 1st prize with percussion ensemble “3+3”

- Seventeenth international competition for soloists and composers “Music and Earth” 2009 – Sofia – 2nd prize

- Sixth international competition for percussion instruments “Pendim 2009” – Plovdiv - 1st prize 
 
- Fifth international competition for composition and percussion instruments in Cannes – 2010 – 2nd prize

- Fifteenth International Competition “Созвездие талантов” 2010 – Saint Petersburg, Russia - award “Star academic Dmitriy Sergeevich Lihachov” and prize of the composer Andrei Petrov 




 

2004 - soloist with brass band “Dimitrovgrad” conducted by Dotso Vatkov in Sevlievo.
       2005 - soloist of the Sofia Symphony Orchestra in Christmas concert in Plovdiv. 
       2006 - participant in the tour of the European Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Igor Koretti. 
       2006 - participate with percussion ensemble "3+3+1" in the Festival in Ribaroha del Turia /Valencia / - Spain
       2007 - again participant in the tour of European Youth Symphony Orchestra.
       2008 – participate in the 48th International Festival "March Music Days" as a timpanist in the orchestra International academy "LET’S PLAY ORCHESTRA" in Rousse, conducted by Sir Neville Marriner. 
       2008 – soloist of the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra "Sofia", conducted by Deyan Pavlov in Italy. 
 2009 – became member of the ensemble Youth Percussion Pool and started performing with them in Bulgaria and The Netherlands
 2010 – participating in summer school of EUYO 
 2011 – nominated for crystal lyre in category ”young performer” in Sofia
       He has been taking part in many master classes - Tatiana Koleva, Alexander Kamenarov, Georgi Varbanov, Nebojsa Zivkovic, Igor Leshnik, Li Biao, Hristo Yotsov, Emil Handjiev, Kalin Veliov, Hakim Ludim and others. 
       He has numerous appearances in concerts organized by NMS "Lubomir Pipkov” - Sofia


 In 2012 Martin Hafizi was accepted in the jazz department of the university for arts ”CODARTS” in Rotterdam with main subject drumset in the class of Hans van Oosterhout and Joost Patocka. Since then he started performing on the jazz stage in The Netherlands and had the chance to perform together with grammy-nominated bass player Panagiotis Andreou. He also performed with Codarts Big Band conducted by John Beasley. He is now starting his 3rd year bachelor.
