Mateusz Goraj is one of the most promising guitarists of his generation. Already in his youngest years he showed his unique talent, winning first prizes in youth competitions, for example in Tychy and Sanok. From the beginning of his musical career he was meeting the most outstanding guitarists of our age. At master classes he was honing his skills lead by masters like: Oscar Ghiglia, Carlo Marchione, Pavel Steidl, Costas Cotsiolis, Hubert Käppel, Roberto Aussel, Marcin Dylla , Roland Dyens, Walter Würdinger. Mateusz Goraj is prizewinner of nationally and internationally acclaimed competitions, such as in Vienna, Rust (Austria), Kutna Hora (Czech Republik) or Sanok (Poland).

Mateusz Goraj was born on the 3rd of June 1984 in Bytom into a family of artists. He had his first guitar lessons at the age of six with a private teacher. Later on he continued his education at the State Music School in Tychy (Poland) and the State Music High School in Katowice (Poland). From 2003-2008 he studied at the Music Academy in Katowice in the class of Prof. Wanda Palacz. His musical education led him further to external institutions: to the University of Arts in Graz in the class of Prof. Leo Witoszynskij, followed by the class of Prof. Stefan Fuchs. He also graduated with distinction from the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in the class of Prof. Oscar Ghiglia. Currently he is a student in the guitar class of Prof.Thomas Kirchhoff in Detmold - Germany.

He has recorded for Polish Television in Katowice, as well as for the radio station ORF1 in Austria. He has given concerts as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Radio and the Orchestra for Modern Music in Warsaw. He performed in Germany at the Festival “Podium Junger Kuenstler”, in Hanover at the “Joseph Joachim” Festival as well as in Italy and in Austria, where he showed himself as an excellent musician and sensitive interpreter. His performances were met with great critique and high appreciation.

Mateusz Goraj has received Scholarships from the Schloarship Foundation of Austria and the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena (Italy), scholarships from the Polish National Foundation for Talented Children, the President of the Town Tychy, the European Program Sokrates – Erasmus, and the Central European Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS).
