Michael Davis

Born in London, Michael Davis studied at Oxford University, the RoyalCollege of Music and at English National Opera on the Opera Workscourse. He won first prize in the 2009/10 Bayreuth BursaryCompetition. Opera roles include Marcello LA BOHÈME for OperaUpClose,Masetto DON GIOVANNI for Longborough Festival Opera,  Father HANSELAND GRETEL, Sir William Crusoe and Jim Cox in Offenbach’s ROBINSONCRUSOE both for 2X2 Opera, Sheriff and Plunkett (cover) MARTHA forNorthampton Festival Opera and Opera South and title role inStradella's IL TRESPOLO TUTORE (cover), SimoneLA FINTA SEMPLICE, SamTROUBLE IN TAHITI, scenes as both Papageno DIE ZAUBERFÖTE andDemetrius A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM and the role of Pluto in the firstperformance of John Caldwell's THE STORY OF ORPHEUS, all for NewChamber Opera, Oxford. Concert performances include Bach’s MAGNIFICATand Mahler’s 8th SYMPHONY, both at the Sage Gateshead, Britten's CANTATA MISERICORDIUM and Vaughan-William's Epithalamion for Goldsmiths Choral Union at the Cadogan Hall and Mendelssohn's PAULUS for Bromley Philharmonic Choir. a gala concert for Maesteg and District Male Voice Choir, Bach’s ST JOHNS PASSION for Ealing Abbey Choir, Haydn’s THE SEASONS for East Grinstead Choral Society and recitals at Waltham Abbey, Reading University, The National Gallery, Lincoln’s Inn and the general meeting of the Wagner Society of Great Britain.
In 2012 he will perform Bach's MAGNIFICAT and BWV 63 with the BernSymphony Orchestra Chamber Ensemble for Bachwochen Thun and Schubert's Mass in Eb for Goldsmith's Choral Union.
