Mirella Bunoaica is a young Romanian soprano with an outstanding ascending career, who has charmed the audiences in Theatres and Concert Halls across Europe and America. Her musical performance conveys great subtleness and inspiration. Since early age she showed a great musical talent and played the violin for twelve years. Throughout her progress she gradually discovered what would be her true inspiration, the singing. Later on she carried out major studies at the National University of Music Bucharest and the Salzburg Mozarteum, where sopranos Maria Slatinaru Nistor and Horiana Branisteanu excerted an important vocal and musical interpretation guidance to her career.Mirella Bunoaica is the winner of several Opera and Lied competitions like: “Rivelas Opera Competition Panama” 2012 I Prize and Rivelas Prize, "Jeunesse Musical Serbia" III Prize and Stary Grad Prize, International Contest of Vocal Performance “Sabin Dragoi” in Timisoara Romania I Prize, the Grand Prize at the National Performance Contest “Martian Negrea” in Ploiesti Romania, National Contest of the Romanian Lied Performance in Brasov Romania I Prize and National Contest of Lied Performance “Ionel Perlea" in Slobozia Romania I Prize.Her repertoire includes roles such as Violetta Valery in "La Traviata", Gilda in “Rigoletto”, Mimi in “La Bohème”, Vivetta in “L´Arlesiana”, “Carmina Burana”, Konstanze in “Die Entführung aus dem Serail“, Despina in “Così fan tutte“ and Elisetta in “Il matrimonio segreto“.In 2008 she joined the Young Artists Program of the Bavarian State Opera, making in the following year her debut as Despina in Mozart‘s “Cosi fan tutte“ at the Cuvilliés Theater in Munich. She had a great success as Mimi in “La Bohème” at the Bamberg Summer Opera in 2009.A highly acclaimed Violetta Valery, during the season 2010/11 Mirella Bunoaica performed “La Traviata” at the open air festival in Buc Versailles/Bad Homburg, chosen out of 35 Violettas from several countries, performance that gave her standing ovations; the second Gilda in the new production of Rigoletto (Luc Bondy) at the Wiener Festwochen and a concert dedicated to Liszt at the Berlin Philharmonic. In July 2011 she was praised by audience and press for a concert of arias and duets with José Carreras in Carcassonne, France.In 2012 she is the second Violetta in La Traviata (NP Deborah Warner) at the Theater an der Wien (Wiener Festwochen). She also earned a great success with Vivetta in Cilea‘s L’Arlesiana at the Freiburg Theater (including a CD release) and with “Carmina Burana” at Volksoper Wien. Later she honored the invitation to the great Arena di Verona, singing famous arias for the production “Opera on Ice” - performance featuring the most celebrated champions of figure skating and broadcasted on worldwide television.Mirella Bunoaica´s future projects include Violetta Valery in a new production of La Traviata at the Angers/Nantes Opera Theaters. In the season 2013/14 she will be a member of the Staatsoper Stuttgart, where she will perform rolls like Violetta Valery, Mimi, Amina, Nanetta and Pamina.
