Oksana Lazareva

Born in Tomsk, Siberia, she graduated in choir direction and voice at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with Elena Obraszova and the "Conservatorio di Verona" with Maestro Gianni Mastino after having studied at the Statal University of Theatrical Arts with Bolscioi director Boris Pokrowsky.
After her operatic Debut in 1994 as Olga in the Opera "Eugene Onegin" by Tchaikowski, she also appeared as Duniasha in the "Fiancèe of the Zar" by Rimskj-Korsakov and Varvara in "Not Only Love" by Scedrin.
She has since then interpreted the roles of Mamma Lucia in "Cavalleria Rusticana" by Mascagni, Giovanna in "Rigoletto" by Verdi, Fidalma - the main character in "Matrimonio segreto" by Cimarosa, Maddalena - the main character in "Rigoletto" by Verdi, and Carmen in "Carmen" by Bizet. She also took part in a large tour of France in 2001-2002.
In addition to a brilliant Opera career she has profound command of the Russian chamber repertoire (Rachmaninov, Tchaikowskj, Rimskj-Korsakov, Mussorgsky, Shostakovich), the European chamber repertoire (Schubert, Schumann, Debussy, de Falla), as well as frequent excursions into sacred music (Pergolesi, Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven, Bruckner).
Performances have brought her to sing at the Great Hall and the Rachmaninow Hall in Moscow, for the Italian Institute of Culture in London, the Easter Festival in Austria, the "Europa Festival" in Rome, the "Arena di Verona" Foundation in Verona, the "Accademia del Teatro alla Scala" in Milan, the Théatres de Paris in France, and the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Charleroi, Belgium. Past engagements include performances in Bearritz, Cognac, Perigueux, Niort, El Vendrell and Tarragona – Spain, and most major Italian cities just to mention a few.
Her approach toward 20th century authors, with whom she often collaborates, is also remarkable. Notable engagements include the main character in "Cambio" by D‘Amico, "Notturno" by Manucci, "Messer Lievesogno" by Galante and "Videogames" by Lenzi.
In April of 2006, together with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Milan, she appeared as Azucena in "Trovatore" and Ulrica in "Ballo in maschera" by G. Verdi at the Teatro Smeraldo.
In 2007-2008 she took part in productions developed by Bolzano-based group "Artisti senza frontiere" (Artists without fronteers) in theatre plays such as "Emma" and "Mathilde" under the direction of Australian art director Tanya Denny.
Since 2007 she has frequently performed for the "Liederiadi" concert series in Milan where she has sung various chamber music programs.
In February of 2010 she won the International Festival "Russian Singing in the World".
In 2011 she made her debut in baroque music performing in the role of Penelope in "The Return of Ulysses" by Monteverdi with the Ensemble La Venexiana conducted by Claudio Cavina in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and in the Cité de la musique in Paris.
Together with her brilliant carreer as a soloist, Oksana Lazareva also starts a constant carreer as a stage director in theather musical plays, operettas and musicals such as "Coristrum" (2001), "Marriage of Figaro" (2003), "Magic Flute" (2008), "Pictures of Spanish Life" (2009), and "When the Seduction is a Woman" (2009).
In April 2014 she presents her new collaboration shining as an art director for lyrical theatre as well as playing the part of the main character of the Opera “Amadigi di Gaula” by G.F. Haendel.
