Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on September 10, 1961. He studied guitar with the Brazilian masters Juan Pedro Borges, Carlos Delmiro, and Ruy Pereira.

In the 80s, during a time when his country was getting out of the military dictatorship and heading towards democracy Paulo participated in many events sharing his Democratic ideals and in favor of the demarcation of the natives of the Alto Xingu, and la Defensa de los Seringueiros in the state of Acre. This movement was led by Chico Mendez, with other well-known artist like Octavio Burnier, Francis Hime, Chico Buarque, Claudio Nucci, Juca Filho, Ze Renato, and Lenine. Paulo lived in barrio de tijuca, in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro. Paul also collaborated with other musicians like Marcelo Lessa, Roberto Paciencia, G Do Cavaco, Roberto Pereira, Andrezinho, Jomar, and Lena Pablo. In 1985 Paulo meets famous pianists Luis Eça, creator of the super famous Tamba Trio, in Rio de Janeiro. And thanks to his sons Fred and Igor, starts taking classic of popular Brazilian harmony.

Towards the end of the 80's Paulo moved to Italy and works with Gil Badaro, and also with Mágico Brasil orchestra.
In 1991 Paulo arrives in Puerto Rico and meets Pedro Guzmán and his musical group Jibaro Jazz with whom he is able to record. In the process also meeting the Swiss singer Anna Baiana who resides in Puerto Rico. Also collaborating with such musicians as Cheby Rodríguez, and Pedro Figueroa.

Presently Paulo is a composer, and musician. He studies guitar with Puerto Rican master Fernando Martina who is teaching him the secrets of jazz. Paulo also works as a composer of "songs of life" (songs dedicated to children with terminal diseases.) His latest release "bossa nova" has 10 songs out of which 6 are from the Masters Jobim y Vinicius. Four of these songs are dedicated to his love of Jesus. This CD is full of positive instrumental energy and in very good taste. Collaborating artists are David Ortiz (drums), Jimmy Rivera (drums), Pedro Guzmán (bass), Yan Carlos Artime (keyboards), Pedro Bermúdez (keyboards), Anna Biana (vocalists) y Paulo de Sousa (guitar, bass, and cavaquinho, a folkloric Brazilian instrument.)
