Pilar Belaval, young mezzo soprano born in Zaragoza, is one of the most promising voices of the spanish current lyric.

In 2004, she graduated in dramatic art. During her early years, her vocal training was in charge of her father, tenor Emilio Belaval. Actually, she is finishing her studies at Escuela Superior de Canto of Madrid, under the direction of Carmen Rodriguez and Omar Sanchez. She has taken masterclasses with professionals like Miguel Zanetti, Edelmiro Arnaltes, Teresa Berganza, Miguel Ortega, Suso Maritegui, etc.

She performed her first opera “Così fan tutte” at 19 years of age, in the role of Dorabella, since then she lives in Madrid where she is developing her artistic career. She has also represented Carmen, Traviata (Flora), Dido and Eneas and Orfeo ed Euridice in leading roles.

Her international debut took place at Weill Recital Hall at Carneguie Hall of New York last november 23, singing a spanish operetta recital, alongside renowned singers.

At age 21 she was finalist of two important contests: The Monserrat Caballé singing scholarships, and Tomas Breton Contest, in Salamanca. At the beginning of this year, she was one of the winners of the award of the Madrid Opera Friends Association, to take part in their anual concert series.

This September, she was part of the world premiere production of “El terrible Perez” zarzuela world premiere, of Guerrero Fundation, directed by Paco Mir and conducted by Nacho de Paz. This october made her debut at Madrid National Auditorium singing Vivaldi's Gloria conducted by maestro Victor Ambroa.
At the end of the month, she traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico to give two recitals, one at the Casa de España, on the occasion of its 100 anniversary, and the other at Emilio S Belaval Theatre, Sagrado Corazon University.

In 2012 she premiered at Teatros del Canal of Madrid, “El año santo en Madrid”, of Pedro Calderon de la Barca, produced by DelaBarca company. In the same year, sung the leading mezzo role at Coliseum Madrid Theatre the show “El humor en la opera” with Camerata Lirica company.

She was principal mezzosoprano of Innova lyrica company from 2006 to 2010, singing the leading roles of zarzuelas like Luisa Fernanda, La Revoltosa, El barberillo de Lavapies, El Bateo, Los Gavilanes, Agua, azucarillos y aguardiente, La Verbena de la Paloma, La Fiesta de San Anton, El Tambor de Granaderos and La Viejecita.

She has performed at important theaters and auditoriums of Spain, Latin America and United States as Carneguie Hall, New York, Casa de España Theatre, Emilio S. Belaval Theatre, San Juan of Puerto Rico, Madrid National Auditorium, Teatros del Canal of Madrid, Teatro Colón of Coruña, Principal of Zaragoza, Teatro Olimpia of Huesca, Teatro Filarmónica of Oviedo, Teatro Guimerá of Tenerife, etc; and has participated as guest artist in notable homages to leading lyrical figures as Alfredo Kraus, Pilar Lorengar, Bernabe Marti y Lucrecia Arana, among others.
