Sangit Segal, a music producer ,composer and percussionist.
Sangit, a percussion player and one of the pioneers of Israel's Afro beat scene , has worked with many artists in Israel and abroad, among them Din Din Aviv, Kutiman, Chava Alberstein, Mahmud Ahmed, Tony Allen and many others.
Following his studies in composition and music arrangement, he continued studying percussion in Cuba and later on with African masters, and in 2004 he co-founded the Ethyo-jazz band Kuluma together with Alon Jofe and Abate Brihon
The band published only one CD which won critical acclaim, and in 2005 it was honored with the chance to perform in support of jazz giants Archie Shape and David Maury.
Strong influence of black music is apparent in Afro Love. The connection between African root music and the Afro-American realm of soul and funk, the Caribbean touch and the jazzy wink – all those characterize Sangit's unique sound. In his songs he uses texts in Hebrew, English, French, Spanish and even Amharic.
In his show "afro love" introduces pieces from another project he's been working on in recent years. Studio Sessions - a musical video art with multiple participants gradually built up in Sangit's studio, while the music evolves with every additional artist that brings his unique ideas and color.
