Ivan & Julia Pokrovsky

The virtuoso violin duo of Ivan Pokrovsky and Yulia Pokrovskaya, Mosconcert soloists and the Moscow Conservatory graduates, was created in 2010. Since then, these outstanding performers have enthralled the Moscow audience. Both consummate, world-class musicians, Ivan and Yulia combine romantic fervor with a wonderful unanimity, a true tour de force of ensemble playing. They match faultless technique with sheer beauty of sound and use their improvisation skills for more innovative and exciting performance.
The duo of Ivan and Yulia is noted for its gorgeous sound and intimate ensemble. Even at their first concerts, their fascinating performance, thoughtful interpretation, grace and buoyant energy immediately captured the audience.
The duo’s repertoire encompasses a vast array of musical styles and genres, including works by Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Grieg, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Schnittke, Bartok, Kreisler, Sarasate; concert miniatures by Gade and Anderson, Chaplin, Piazzolla, Kern and Joplin, adaptations and transcriptions by other composers as well as pieces created by contemporary composers specially for the duo.
