Valentin Doni, a complex musician, is notably recognized as a conductor, composer, and performer. He attended the Institute of Arts “G. Muzicescu” in Chisinau between 1973 and 1978 in the conducting class of Isai Alterman, and the composition class of Paul Rivilis. In 1990 – 1992 he studied conducting with Maestro Ovidiu Balan, and in 1992 - 1993 he perfected his craft at the National Regional Conservatory in Rueil - Malmaison (France) with Professor Jean - Sebastien Bereau. He also attended advanced training courses at the Academy of Music in Lyon and at the Philharmonic of Lille (France).

Valentin Doni began his career as the conductor of the folk orchestra “Folklore” of “Teleradio - Moldova” (1986 -1989.) Between 1990 and 1992 he was an official of the Republic of Moldova’s Ministry of Culture within the department for cooperation with the unions of creation (composer’s union, writer’s union, etc.) From 1991 he was the permanent conductor of the National Philharmonic Symphony of the Republic of Moldova, of which he held the position of artistic director and conductor from 1998 until 2004. Currently he is the permanent conductor of the “M. Jora” Philharmonic in Bacau, Romania.

As a double bassist he collaborated with the “M. Jora” Philharmonic in Bacau (Romania,) and with the European Symphonic Orchestra in Spain. He evolved as a teacher at the Institute of Arts “G. Muzicesu,” from 1980 until 1988, and the Republican College of music, from 1985 until 1987; both of which were in Chisinau.

As a composer, Valentin Doni is a member of the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Moldova and Romania. His works are performed in the Republic of Moldova, Romania, France, and the United States.
