Vangelis Gaglias

He is born in Athens in 1977. He begins and completes his studies in guitar having Mr. N. Hatzieleftheriou as a teacher. He graduates from the National Conservatoire of Athens with A’ Grade, obtaining the First Prize. At the same time, he studies upper theory of music (harmony, contrapunctus and fugue), having Mr. A.Koumenteris and E. Kallianos as teachers.
He participates as the main performer in the guitar seminars of E. Boudounis, E. Papandreou, R. Aussel, D.Russell and R. Dyens and in seminars of pedagogic context by Mrs. D. Michael (teaching practice). During the years he takes part in several courses named “Logic and foundations of music performance”, taught by conductor Mr. I. Xatzinikos.
Besides his solo performances, he takes part in several music ensembles and records repeatedly for the radio and television. His love for Spanish music leads him to the heart of Andalucia, to Jerez and Seville, Spain, whereas he is being introduced to the culture and art of flamenco from local teachers. From that moment, he travels occasionally to Spain.
He is a member of the “Friends of the islands and the Greek sea” association. He also collaborates in the project of “Music Workshops” in the distanced Aegean islands.
He is teaching music in “Geitonas schools”, in the “National” and “Lyrikon” conservatoires of Athens and in the Music Workshop of Ikaria, Greece.
