Yabancı Değiliz

Yabancı Değiliz formed in 2006 and has been performing regularly since 2007. With a style that fuses the cultural similarities of music from the east and west, Yabancı Değiliz’s originals mix western rock and pop styles with Turkish lyrics and flavor, to create something that is truly multicultural. Citing influences that include The Beatles, Mazhar Fuat Özkan (MFÖ), Maroon 5 and Coldplay, the
 band describe their sound as, "a blend of unique lyrics and smooth harmonies driven deep into alternative pop-rock driven beats". YD continues to widen their sound with the use of synthesizers and have enjoyed the results, hoping to bring fresh sounds to the already lively music scene in Istanbul.Multicultural is an apt word to describe the group as the members come from many different backgrounds: Denmark, America, and Britain; the rather unusual band name was chosen as a tribute to Turkey, the country that brought them together.In Istanbul, since 2010, YD has performed at Ghetto Lounge, James Joyce, 360 Istanbul, the Four Seasons Hotel, Sait Halim Pasa Yalısı, the Divan at Kuruçesme, Koc University, Kooperatif, Haymatlos, Kiz Kulesi, Suada, the Double Tree Hilton Hotel, and at the Hilton Hotel for the UNICEF Turkey 60th anniversary Gala.In 2011, the band travelled over 15,000 kilometers for shows in Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Ankara, Adana, Kilis, Tekirdag, and Gemlik.Whether at a party, a corporate function, a wedding, or a club, Yabancı Değiliz plays your favorite cover songs, and new originals, in both English and Turkish.
